I've been playing piano for 10 years and teaching piano lessons at Firmly Planted for 4 years. I recently graduated from Portland Bible College with an Associate in Church Music. Piano lessons are 30 minutes long and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10-3pm. Students will learn a variety of songs, theory, sight reading, playing by ear and worship songs. As a fun way to end the year, all students are welcome to participate in and invite their families to an end of year piano recital. This is really an enjoyable time for the students to show what they've learned and for their families to get to watch them perform!

Schedule: Tuesday - Preschool A - 131: 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm
Description:In Foundations Through Creation we will practice literacy, math, and social-emotional concepts appropriate for preschoolers while exploring the seven days of creation found in the Bible. Each class will begin with an engaging circle time and then transition to open-ended activities that support what was learned at circle time. We will explore a different day of creation every month, which makes this class a nice option for the entirety of the 2023-2024 school year. It will be available for your child to join us during registration times for the first and/or second semester without having to commit to the entire year. Just know we will pick up in the second semester with the 4th or 5th day of creation, depending on the flow of the children first semester. With permission from the writer, Foundations Through Creation follows the homeschool learning guide that can be found at www.foundationsthroughcreation.com. This class would be a nice supplement to your homeschool plan with or without following the full learning guide at home. My background is in Early Childhood Education and I absolutely love these preschool years. I look forward to being a resource to your family while providing a fun and faith-filled learning environment for your little one. Feel free to message me on Slack for further questions.
Requirements:This class is geared for preschool age learners 3.5-5. Your child needs to be able to attend and engage at a 20min circle time. 6 year olds are welcome depending on level of interest and children who have recently turned 3 may join us at parent's digression.

Chemistry Ages 15yr-18yr Jill Valenti Fall 2023 Science
- Chemistry
Schedule: Monday - Classroom - 135: 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm
Description:This is a CORE class that meets once a week for the full year. Parents are required to attend the mandatory Core Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 24th at 2pm, August 24th at 6pm, September 7th at 2pm, or September 7th at 6pm. This course curriculum was developed by the teacher based on student feedback from previous texts - content falls somewhere between Friendly Chemistry and Apologia Chemistry. Fall term will focus on a thorough understanding of atoms, molecules, and the periodic table, while spring term will apply stoichiometry to various chemical principles. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements and must be taken alongside Mr. Ringnalda's chemistry lab (you will automatically be enrolled in both at the time of registration). Teacher will supplement the text content, administer labs, grade tests, and provide an overall course grade based on test scores, homework completion, and in-class participation. Parents will administer tests at home, sign off on all homework assignments, and maintain communication through Slack.
Requirements:Students must have passed Algebra 1 with a B or better (contact the teacher prior to registration if this is a concern) - many chemistry problems involve solving for an unknown, unit conversions/dimensional analysis, and simplifying exponents. Students must bring the textbook, a calculator WITH DISPLAY (such as: https://www.amazon.com/Texas-Instruments-Engineering-Scientific-Calculator/dp/B004NB[…]4894100&sprefix=graphing%2Bcalculato%2Caps%2C244&sr=8-14&th=1), a pencil, a highlighter, post-its or other sticky bookmarks, and a spiral bound notebook with pocket folder to class. Materials fee includes the textbook provided by the teacher. Parents must sign off on weekly homework assignments and electronically input scores for supplementary problems once per chapter (10 chapters).

ABC's & 123 Play Ages 3yr-6yr Alexis Brand Fall 2023 Early Education
Schedule: Tuesday - Preschool A - 131: 12:00 pm - 12:50 pm
Description:Lines, lines and more lines! All letters and numbers are made up of lines: straight, curvy, big, or small. In this play based class we will use stories and movement as a foundation to our exploration of letters and numbers. Every class will start with a fun and engaging circle time. We'll then break out into child directed open ended activities that support concepts practiced at circle time. This class is geared for children 3.5-6 and children who are ready to practice identifying letter/sounds, numbers, quantifying numbers, and writing letters & numbers. Children should be able to engage in a 20 minute circle time without much assistance. This class follows the letters & numbers sequence in the Learning Without Tears book and would pair nicely, although not required, if your family chooses to use that curriculum at home. This would be an excellent class for both terms but is not limited to a full year class. Just know in the second term we will not be starting new but will be continuing what was learned in the first term. Some children could jump in second term and others might not. That all depends on your child and I am happy to assist you if you are unsure. My background is in early childhood education before I became a mom and I just love these early learners! I look forward to connecting with you and your family! Feel free to contact me on Slack with any questions.
