Drawing, Color, & Originality Ages 7yr-12yr Elizabeth Ganji Fall 2021 Arts
- Drawing
Schedule: Monday - Art Studio - 129: 11:30 am - 12:50 pm
Description:In this class we will use guided drawing as a means to discovering our own unique art style! Lessons will emphasize important foundational elements of a successful painting as we refer to famous works and styles created by the Masters, as well as a few contemporary artists. Students will learn how to see the world as an artist by breaking down complex subjects into simple shapes. Emphasis will be placed on “loosening up;” placing less energy on perfected realism, and celebrating the “imperfect” mark making that contributes to an interesting painting and design. We will cover drawing and painting technique, with wide exposure to multiple mediums. Just as each of our signatures reflect our own unique style, so does our artwork! We will correlate this concept to a marveling at God’s gift in creating each of us as an original masterpiece, each with our own unique gifts and strengths that we were given to bring beauty into this world! We will complete eight bold, beautiful art projects throughout the semester, each project taking several sessions to complete. Please note class duration will be 90 minutes. Due to the nature of our multiple session projects, it is important your student attends as many classes as possible. Please send students in clothes that can get messy so they can feel free to create!

Scripture Art Ages 11yr-19yr+ Ellie Tauscher Fall 2021 Arts
- Writing
Schedule: Tuesday - Art Studio - 129: 3:30 pm - 4:50 pm
Description:In this class we will cover a variety of mixed media art techniques and talk about the beauty of letting your art be inspired by scripture. We will cover the basics of watercolor, acrylic, hand lettering, and much more. We will spend several weeks at a time exploring and playing with different mediums followed by opportunities to create more complete pieces of art founded on Bible verses chosen by the students for their own work. At the end of the term we will put all of their skills to use creating their own individual pieces on canvas for them to take home. I have been offering this class at the resource center for three years now and the ingenuity and creativity of the students I’ve had always astounds me! It brings me such joy to see my students growing not only in their artistic abilities through this class but in their increased knowledge of God’s word. In addition, their self discovery as we work together to push their boundaries, try new things, and see the value of imperfections and learning from mistakes is beautiful as I watch them growing into young men and women of God. I look forward to guiding even more students through this super fun class this fall! I hope you’ll join us! Please bring supplies I will provide in the first class as well as a good attitude and a verse to work with each class.

Bring a Journaling Bible (I recommend either the Illustrating Bible or an interleaved Bible). If you’d like me to provide a Bible for your student please contact me. I am a visual learner and I know I remember things better when 1. I associate them with color. 2. I spend time with them 3. I involve them while doing something with my hands and 4. I do it with other people. This class is a chance for other learners who are the same way to enjoy time in Gods word together as we study, respond, and make scripture beautiful.

- Drawing
Schedule: Monday - Art Studio - 129: 10:00 am - 10:50 am
Description:In this class, we will be drawing what we see around us in our day to day lives. Observational drawing is an important technique for artists and is often used as a foundation for other forms of drawing, such as figure drawing, still life, landscape, and portraiture. All levels of ability are welcome. Subject material will be pulled from everyday life, indoors and outside (weather permitting). In order to recreate what they observe, this class will build on the elements and fundamentals of art such as line, shape, shading, space, perspective, depth, and form to name a few.
