- General Art
Schedule: Thursday - Shop - SHOP: 4:00 pm - 4:50 pm
Description:Hey everyone! I'm Zach and I own a custom woodworking business in town called Ashes To Beauty Woodworking making furniture and rustic home decor from reclaimed wood and live edge wood (www.ashestobeautynw.com). Woodworking 2.0 is for the older pre-teens/teenagers and it is going to be a class that your kids will not want to miss! Below is a layout of what this class will be all about. During the span of this class, we will be making a rustic serving tray from reclaimed wood and a rustic wall decor piece! Practical items that can be taken home and used on a daily basis while learning woodworking skills that they can hold on to for years to come! What will the kids be learning about in this class? - Different types of wood - Different purposes for the different types of wood - Basic woodworking tools and their uses - How to make straight cuts - Gluing wood (the proper way) - Lots about sanding and the different coarse grits of sandpaper - What to seal/finish your project with (food-grade oil and non-food grade oil) - And much more! My goal is to teach practical skills that can be carried on through the years of growing up whether they do woodworking as a profession when they get older or to just be able to use it as a hobby. Also, I want to inspire future woodworkers to chase their dreams if they have that desire to do woodworking as a profession when they grow up. So come with an eagerness to have lots of fun and be ready to get a little dusty as we take a journey into Woodworking 2.0!

Clay Play B Ages 3yr-6yr Sia Hoyt Spring 2023 Arts
- Ceramics
Schedule: Wednesday - Ceramics Studio - 004: 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm
Description:This is a hands-on class in which students have plenty of freedom to explore the wonderful medium of clay! Come with your littles each week for special parent-child time and socialization with other parents around the clay table. 5-6 year olds can be dropped off for this class, 3-4 year olds need a parent to attend with them. Some projects for the littles will include heart and handprint bows, pencil pots and thumbprint ornaments and, inevitably, many sweet little sculptural pieces of their own. You will also have the opportunity to create a handprint tile for a wall or keepsake box. In this class parents get to make little things, too, and everyone will decorate, glaze and take home their finished work once fired. Students have some minimal cleanup chores, like washing their wooden tools in the provided water buckets, wiping down their areas after glazing days and pushing in their chairs at the end of classes. Tactile contact is one of the first experiences we have in this life; it is at our roots. So this weekly gathering with clay, water and shells is a very grounding experience for students.

Drawing, Color & Originality! I Ages 7yr-12yr Elizabeth Ganji Fall 2022 Arts
- General Art
Schedule: Wednesday - Art Studio - 129: 11:00 am - 12:20 pm
Description:In this class we will use guided drawing as a means to discovering our own unique art style. Lessons will emphasize important foundational elements of a successful painting as we refer to famous works and styles created by the Masters, as well as a few contemporary artists. Students will learn how to see the world as an artist by breaking down complex subjects into simple shapes. Emphasis will be placed on “loosening up;” placing much less energy on perfected realism, and celebrating the “imperfect” mark making that contributes to an interesting painting and design. We will cover drawing and painting technique, with wide exposure to multiple mediums. Just as each of our signatures reflect our own unique style, so does our artwork! We will correlate this concept to a marveling at God’s gift in creating each of us as an original masterpiece, each with our own unique gifts and strengths that we were given to bring beauty into this world! We will complete eight bold, beautiful art projects throughout the semester, each project taking several sessions to complete. Please note class duration will be 90 minutes. Due to the nature of our multiple session projects, it is important your student attends as many classes as possible. Please send students in clothes that can get messy so they can feel free to create! Ages: 7-12+
